The role of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the growth of "green" automotive technology will be the focus of an event unveiled today. IMS executives are scheduled join officials from a high-tech manufacturer and universities for the announcement.

The day-long occasion will be part of IMS' celebration of the 100th anniversary Indianapolis 500. The announcement is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET at the Speedway's Pagoda Plaza.
